How could I make you understand
That that kiss burned with the fire
Of a thousand, splendid suns
All bottled up, and released at once
What words would it take for you to comprehend
The power that you hold in those eyes.
A smile to which the world would bend
And a voice that would lift the sun to rise.

Would that I could express
The wonders of you caress
The magnanimity of your silence
Could halt or incite violence
Would that I could bask, just once
In the radiance, equivalent
To a thousand splendid suns.
