Friday Feels: Your Weekly Codeword Playlist
We take our music seriously at Codeword. Our shared Sonos is an anarchic free-for-all, we keep a crowdsourced list of banned songs, and employees spend weeks prepping for office karaoke nights. (Just kidding — Codeword only hires naturally gifted singers.)
Given the role of music in our workplace, we decided to kick off a new Codeword tradition: The Friday Feels Playlist. Each week, I’ll create a playlist of songs contributed by our Codeword musicologists. We’ll publish it here every Friday, and while we’re bumping it in our offices, you can listen along from wherever you are.
For our inaugural week, it’s a musical free-for-all of genres and styles. Here are some delicious picks from the list:
Tiffany chose “Change” by The Lightning Seeds and had this to say:
“Maybe the Song of the Summer isn’t one that was released this year. MAYBE it’s a song from the “Clueless” soundtrack. This song plays when everything is going swimmingly for Cher: Her teachers aren’t assigning homework but falling in love with each other, everyone’s getting great grades, and everyone’s grateful that she orchestrated this little match made in heaven. Listening to this song will make you feel the same way, like you can conquer anything and everyone’s applauding you for it.”
Curtis chose “Almost Had To Start A Fight / In And Out Of Patience” by Parquet Courts as a perfect opener or end to the week :
“A brash, punky, two-for-one jam with lyrics perfect for riding the L on Friday — or simmering to while waiting for a late G on Monday”
Tune in next week for a brand new playlist.
