George Sainteus is the principal and owner of Sainteus Agency LLC, based in the New York City area. We sat down with George to learn more about how he started his agency.
George Sainteus runs a community-driven agency in Harlem, New York where he focuses on providing his clients with the knowledge, tools, and resources to meet their insurance coverage needs, especially for Minority-Owned Business Enterprises.
“I’m very passionate about helping my clients create generational wealth while transforming the New York City business community to be more diverse. The core of my business is helping business owners get the insurance coverage they need to obtain contracts with the city.”
In addition to his work as an agency owner, George also sits on several non-profit boards and offers consulting services to non-profit organizations.
George has seen a lot of success with his New York business and will soon be expanding to Houston, Texas as well. While George has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, he didn’t always imagine he would wind up working in the insurance industry.
“In college, I had an internship with a leading multinational assurance, tax, advisory, and professional services organization and after I graduated I was recruited to work for a major reinsurance company, which at the time, was an industry I was unfamiliar with. I started with that company as an analyst and left as the assistant treasurer. Over my ten-year career there I learned a lot about the insurance industry from a corporate perspective, but I was eager to expand my service to the community and get back to my entrepreneurial roots.”
It was at this time that George formed a strategic partnership with a major insurance carrier to help expand its New York market. “I realized there was an underserved community in Harlem, so I opened the carrier’s first branch here.”
While George was expanding his commercial lines book, he discovered CoverWallet for Agents. “I have several professional business clients who required specialized Workers Compensation coverage, but it was difficult to place them through traditional means.
