Trends make or break you

We don’t know how long this pandemic will last. Stats on restaurants closing are grim making it important to stay on top of trends. Adopting them can either make or break our businesses. Just look back at past trends that restaurants take on like social media which allows us to nurture customer feedback through reviews. A lack of reviews or online presence can prevent potential customers from even trying your restaurant. The ones who adopt trends for their customers are the ones who survive.

A once unthinkable trend

Take the more recent trend of restaurants sharing their recipes. It was once considered unthinkable to giveaway what some consider the secret sauce of a restaurant. However, household hospitality brands and restaurants alike are taking the lead and giving out highly sought after recipes to the stay at home public.

Who’s taking the lead

With the parks being closed, Disney wants to share “a little taste of Disney magic” by posting how to videos of recipes like how to make their grilled cheese for their fans. Their famous churro recipe is all over Instagram, view inspiration at #DisneyChurros to see the campaign’s success.

This thoughtful trend has likely become popular because of its ability to show customer appreciation being that many of us can’t leave our homes. DoubleTree by Hilton has published their one and only cookie recipe. Shawn McAteer, senior vice president and global head, DoubleTree by Hilton said in a recent statement that “A warm chocolate chip cookie can’t solve everything, but it can bring a moment of comfort and happiness.”

Don’t forget the little guys

Following the leaders, the small restaurant owner Dave Johns of Oregon’s Bend Soup Company is posting one personal recipe per week on his Facebook page. View his recent interview here:

He says how it can be a fun idea to try out for your own restaurant. Customers dream of the day that they can get a hold of their favorite restaurant’s recipes, so consider this trend, it’s sure to lift the spirits of your customers and show the community you care!

If you are still hesitant of this trend just do a little research of your own to find even more restaurants like McDonald’s who released their sausage egg McMuffin recipe and Warburtons unveiled their crumpet recipe.
