I found this poem when going back over my notes from the Warm Data Host training I attended over the summer. In the session, we’d been talking about ‘conscious purpose’ — what Gregory Bateson described as “a short-cut device to enable you to get quickly at what you want; not to act with maximum wisdom in order to live, but to follow the shortest logical or causal path to get to what you want next…”.
