DFID’s Frontier Technology Hub is working with a range of partners to build a technology and innovation pipeline to support action related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative will identify, highlight and provide resources to adapt data analytics and use solutions in low and middle-income countries to fight COVID-19.

Many low and middle-income countries (LMICs) have insufficient or inadequate analysis and interoperability tools to identify factors that may contribute to the COVID-19 pandemic. Examples of these factors include:

  • Migration patterns
  • Economic and social vulnerability from lockdowns/travel restrictions
  • Different characteristics, capacities and norms among population groups

The Frontier Technology Hub is looking for data analytics and use tools to support response and policy making that are currently used or can be quickly adapted to LMIC conditions and contexts. These can come from anywhere, both developed and LMIC countries. These tools should have:

  • Adaptability to specific country conditions
  • Clear pricing/resource models for long term sustainability
  • Data ownership that is transferable to the host country
  • Data security and privacy built into the tool/approach

This DFID challenge aims to identify organisations that have created such data analysis and use tools, to compile the most useful and support the most promising. At the conclusion of the challenge, the Frontier Tech Hub will:

  • Create a curated list of solutions used in or adaptable to COVID-19 management in LMICs
  • Identify promising data use tools for seed funding
  • Support country-specific efforts, matching with DFID’s local or regional partners

APPLY: Please submit an application for the data-use solutions that support data integration and analysis challenge area here.

The deadline for submissions is May 18th at 11:59pm BST. After submission, we will contact you for additional information and to move to the next stage. Remember, you can submit multiple submissions, especially if each submission differs in substance, application, and topics. Please enter each submission on a separate form.

WHY WE’RE DOING THIS
