Evelyn Owen’s first indigenous UK homemade weapon built in 1938 Chambered in .22 Short. He constructed a drum magazine from an automobile crankshaft’s harmonic balancer. The magazine/cylinder held 44 .22 short cartridges. A grammaphone spring powered the magazine. It featured a thumb trigger and eventually was abandoned for a simpler design, that of a magazine fed from the top.

47,000 of these were made.
