Greetings,

Coinplug will launch a Metadium-based mobile youth verification service in the second half of the year. This service passed the Ministry of Science & ICT regulatory sandbox screening on April 8th and we are now in the process to discuss more specifics with the Busan Metropolitan Government.

The new service will provide age verification certificates that can be stored in the user’s mobile phone and applied to verify his/her age and get youth preferential discounts online and offline. In the past, for teenagers to benefit from the youth discounts they had to submit a resident’s registration card or other type of identification to confirm their age. There was no specific set of rules regarding exceptions or how to submit a certificate for teenagers without a resident registration card. Coinplug’s new service is expected to solve this problem.

As with other services from Coinplug, DID technology protects the users’ personal information against any leakage. The service will store the age verification certificate, not the age information itself, on the blockchain, guaranteeing the authenticity of the data. Teenagers will be able to, simply and conveniently, benefit from the youth discounts and the service providers will be able to reduce the cost burden of constant mobile phone authentication fees.

We plan to integrate this service into B PASS, our identification and authentication service for the Busan Blockchain Regulation-free Zone.

“We will seek ways to expand age verification services to other regions and sectors in Korea.” said Ryan Uhr, Coinplug’s CEO.
