Looking back on the cplace year of 2020

Oh, 2020! What a year you have been so far! Shall we address the elephant in the room first? Yes, the Corona pandemic has been challenging us all in ways and forms we never thought possible.

Our thoughts go out to those who have been particularly affected by Covid.

As a team, we accepted the challenge in true cplace fashion and tried to make the best out of this remarkable year. A heartfelt thank you goes to our community - customers, partners, and team members — for mastering this year together. So, let’s travel back in time together and share some special cplace moments of 2020:

We started the year on a high note. With awesome awards from 2019 up our sleeves (like our podium position at the German Founders’ Award and a top ten placement at the Deloitte Technology Fast 50), it was time to give our collaboration Factory brand a new look and feel. Here it is, our sleek new logo:

February was a great month for our HR team and all of our recruiting efforts: We were officially certified as Great Place to Work — as one of Germany’s best employers, one of the state of Bavaria’s best employers, and as one of the best employers in the IT and tech industry.

In March, the Corona situation intensified, so that the entire team was advised to work from home. Lucky enough, we are used to remote work and perfectly equipped. Between homeschooling kids, Joe Exotic memes, and hunting down the last roll of toilet paper, we kept the business going and the spirits high.

Poor cbro, however, celebrated a pretty lonely 6th collaboration Factory birthday in our empty offices.

In the month of April, we focused on our Hybrid initiative. In two webinars, we demonstrated how cplace can easily incorporate data from systems like Jira, and how our Gantt Timebox can fully integrate this type of information, as well as data from the product, the process, and the project world into a consistent time planning.

With in-person events and trainings still not being possible, we were busy finding alternatives to keep close contact with our community: Many colleagues from our Consulting Team jumped in to share their cplace knowledge. As a joint venture, we created an entire webinar series of small, easy to digest bites of cplace know-how. If you want to re-live our webinars from 2020, you’ll find the recordings here. And together with our partner QuinScape, virtual cplace trainings were brought to life.

It was time to forge a plan on how to translate our most important community events into great digital happenings. It’s good tradition to share news and updates in our partner network at our annual partner event in July, together with a two-day Community Hackathon. On July 16th and 17th, we brought our first digital partner event to life. It was a great test balloon for everything that was yet to come.

Our UIX team had started working on a new look & feel for cplace to create added value for our customers. It ensures that users have a harmonious experience when using cplace and can work faster, more efficiently and more successfully. Working in an evolutionary way, the team will deliver UIX updates on a regular basis for the months and years to come.

Our colleagues in Hanover put the finishing touches to their extended office space — and what a beauty of an office they have:

Meanwhile in Munich, Katharina Schulze, chairwoman of BÜNDNIS 90/ DIE GRÜNEN in the Bavarian Parliament and Stephanie Schuhknecht, spokeswoman for startups and founders came to visit our Munich Office to discuss our road to success and what it takes to create entrepreneur-friendly conditions.

Also in July, we started to introduce the OKR methodology on a company level to align our goals and strategies even more efficiently.

August being a pretty average August, many of our colleagues, partners, and customers took their well-deserved summer break. So, nothing special to report here.

In September, our Ludwigsburg Team moved into their new office space — a historical building from 1888 and a former real factory. We can’t wait to celebrate a housewarming party there (hopefully next year) and to welcome all of you in person for events, labs, and exchange!

In the same month, a major applause went out to our Information Security Team. Their months of preparation bore fruit and collaboration Factory was successfully ISO27001-certified.

The preparations of the last months paid off: On October 22nd, our first cplace DIGI CON took place — and immediately set a new benchmark — over 550 registrations, more than six hours of video material, and the exceptional feedback from our participants made us grateful and proud. It seems we have a new date in our annual calendar. Thanks to everyone who participated and made this day unforgettable!

Meanwhile, our Recruiting Team never ceased to find the brightest talents in the business, and so they took part in their first digital job fair ever. And who knows? One of their contacts might become one of our new colleagues.

Thanks to the awesome response to our cplace DIGI CON content hub, we decided to keep it open until January 8th. So, if you want to enjoy all bits and bobs from our event highlight of the year to the fullest, then visit https://www.collaboration-factory.de/cplace-digital-conference#anmeldung

And our venture into the world of digital events continues: On December 8th, collaboration Factory supports PM Welt, one of the most important German-speaking project management events as Gold Sponsor. So, meet us at our virtual booth if you are there!

Also, rumor has it that our famous Christmas Party will be an outstanding digital happening this year…

Besides that, we look forward to elaborating some topics further next year. We started working on Solution Templates in 2020 to bring together the best of custom development and off-the-shelf solutions. And, of course, we keep working on a perennial favorite of ours — opening software development to new user groups using No-Code and Low-Code.

So, what’s left? We are very grateful that all our team members made it to December safe and sound and that the #bestteam kept growing. In 2020, we welcomed 30 new colleagues from different parts of the world in all kinds of roles — from working students to software engineers. We’re looking forward to developing great software and working on amazing projects with all of them — and you! — next year.

Stay healthy, relax, and recharge — you deserve it!

Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to the entire cplace Community!

Your cplace Team
