Because he was so persuasive everyone believed him and he got away with it, selling bottles of mineral water as miracle remedy to the elderly; they did not want medicine as long term companions, only the miracle remedy as quick cure.

That summer came and went, as did the distant relatives attending funerals of many elderly.

The charlatan was long gone.
