Beer: Dim Sum Beer — Mikkeller

Starmore Boss — Sharrowvale Rd, Sheffield

I picked this bottle up along with the 8 ball from Beaverton on the day of the Sharrowvale Market. As one day promotion, Starmore Boss were selling these Dim Sum beers from Mikkeller at the nifty price of £2.50. I couldn't resist!

The Dim Sum beer is a herbed/spiced beer flavoured with Lemongrass and Coriander from the Danish brewery Mikkeller, designed for consumption with Asian food.

These flavours sounded a little strange in beer and I wasn’t 100% sure about it, however they were really subtle and complemented the hops well. The lemongrass gave a little citrius acidity and the coriander gave it a lovely dimension.

It was really refreshing and light, and I’m such a big fan of citrus flavours in beer (see the Limoncello IPA post!). Though designed as an accompniment, I really enjoyed it as a singular drink. I’m definitely heading back for some more and but this time with some food!
