To begin, you may be asking why the lead editor of a publication is a random account labeled “A Thinker”. Good question — I’m glad you asked. I have a name in real life (and a real Medium account), but I’ve decided not use it for this publication. Why? Because too often I’ve seen people believe that one publication is better than the next simply because of the title the editor has in the real world. While it has it’s benefits, I want this publication to be to be rounded around a constant mix up of writers that tell interesting, inspiring, and meaningful stories — not one big time writer who writes all the articles for the publication. I want to judge the stories based on their content, not the names behind them. And, I want people to judge this publication based off the content, not the people running it.

I once was entertained by a friend that told me “business is too fake”.

What he meant was that everywhere he went, interactions he experienced between people in business were not true, grounded or meaningful in any way. While he did indeed find that true friends and relationships were built on some measure, too often people were just chasing money and didn’t give a shit about the end game as long as they got what they wanted from the other. I find this to be the opposite with startups. For the most part, the startup community is highly bullshit sensitive. We can smell a bullshitter coming from a mile away. In the corporate world, bullshit happens to be part of the game.

So why on earth am I telling you this story? Well, when I sat at my computer last week, I had decided that I wanted to create a new publication. However, I didn’t want it to just be another publication on Medium — whether it would eventually ‘make it big’ or not. The core principle behind “Crazy Ones” is to create an honest, meaningful (and of course bullshit free) atmosphere of writers that share stories ranging from startups to poetry, and everything in between. We don’t care if you are sitting down to write the first article, piece, or story that you have ever put down on paper — we want to take a look. So often, the best stories come from those who rarely tell them. But, when they do, it can be amazing.

With that said — welcome aboard.

Let’s get started.
