Gary Vaynerchuk once again has brought up an important point for each and every one of us to remember:

You don’t make money by winning the small battles — You make money by winning the war.

Trust me, the man is speaking the real deal here.

Being in business is a long term, grind it out proposition. There aren’t any quick fixes or miracles out there that ring the good old cash register. Each one of us needs to to build up our businesses value proposition to gain both credibility and trust from our end users.

That means we give answers away. We publish meaningful content to our clients. We support the community that follows our industry. Yet we don’t make a single buck of it as one is executing on these micro content ideas.

I’ve took Gary’s advice a number of years ago and started becoming heavily involved in short term content. I blog, write guest posts, whitepapers, and ebooks. I network actively at put people together for a deal without looking for a dime. I’ll evaluate a space for a landlord for a potential client at no charge.

People say to me it’s one hell of a lot of free work you put in. And I’ll tell you this — nothing has returned more to my business than following Gary’s principles. You can read the master’s thoughts on this very subject right here.
