Earlier this week, I wrote about why I think Google’s foray into the AI chatbot world — called Google Gemini — is about to kill your niche blog.

I’ve been toying with the idea of starting my own blog site for a while, but after Gemini arrived in Canada, I sort of hit the brakes on it.

My rationale was this: because tools like Gemini and ChatGPT are so good at aggregating information, they’ll become the default search method very soon.

And because they typically don’t provide sources, that means nobody will have a reason to root around the internet digging for stuff — like your content.

For that reason, I felt that my original argument in the video below that early-stage content creators should focus on two existing platforms was stronger than ever.

But … I’ve finally decided to go ahead with building my own site.

I expect to launch it sometime this week.

Why bother when my expectations are so low for standalone blogs moving forward?
