How To Make A Laser Engraved Stamp | Trodat 4912 Stamp

Hi guys it’s Tim from Create-A-Lase, your one stop shop for your laser and printing needs as well as your trusted source for useful and fun DIY projects.

I hope everyone is doing great. Today I will show you how to make a laser engraved stamp. These laser engraved custom stamps are perfect for crafting, product labeling, or anything that you would like to imprint your details on.

We will show you a step-by-step process on how to make a custom stamp. So stay tuned until the end for the finished product of our laser engraved custom stamp. Let’s take a quick look at what we need before we begin.

Materials you need:

  • Laser Machine (essential)
  • Rubber sheet
  • Trodat 4912 47x18mm or any inking stamp you prefer.
  • Basin with Water
  • Small Brush
  • CorelDraw, though you can follow along with any vector program of choice.

Let’s Start Making our Stamp!

Step 1: Open CorelDraw: Or use any vector-based software like Illustrator or Inkscape to set up the file.

Step 2: Make The Design: In this step, we basically get the images we need to be used on our laser engraved stamp DIY project. You can also customize the text if needed. Now Step 3: Ready for laser: After setting up your file and getting the design set, place the rubber sheet inside the laser machine. The machine will be etching away the parts and eventually sculpt the design onto the rubber. It will also cut around the outside shape to fit into the inking stamp.

Step 4: Brush away all the dust: Get a small basin with water and just brush and clean the finished rubber stamp to get rid all the dust from the etching process then dry it off so it’s ready to go into our stamp.

Lastly for Step 5: Mounting the rubber stamp: Get your inking stamp. One thing you want to remember when using a Trodat type inking stamp is when putting the rubber plate, always make sure to have the word Trodat facing you. Then on the side there is a locking mechanism that keeps the stamp in position so it won’t be hard when sticking the rubber template.

Make sure to check the orientation and that it is facing up towards where the words are then place the ink pad in and squeeze them together to bring the ink unto the surface. Now we are ready to put that sticker on top so you can see how our stamp will look like.

There we go, we have just made our laser engraved stamp. This is one of the handy DIY projects you can do with a laser, either for personal use or as a business. I hope you gained something of value today and to know more about what we do visit our website.
