In Make It Ten №5 we spoke with Christian Wandersee, CEO of vasopharm, the most recent investment out of our CV IV fund. Hopefully, as a private person, you will never have to deal with the product vasopharm is developing, but if you do, it might save your life. Why? vasopharm develops a novel treatment for traumatic brain injury. So be safe and wear a helmet when you drive around with these funny e-scooters!

#1 Christian, please introduce vasopharm in one sentence.
vasopharm is the leading pharmaceutical company focusing on drug development in the indication of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

#2 What was the initial impetus or motivation to start vasopharm and what is your vision with it?
The motivation to start was based on exciting scientific data, identifying druggable targets. The vision: We want to be the first company ever to provide physicians with a drug to improve the quality of life of traumatic brain injury patients.

#3 What company-related recent accomplishment are you most proud of?
Managing a European multi-centre trial with ten FTE’s

#4 Five years from now, what will vasopharm look like? What will you be doing yourself?
It is a reasonable assumption that vasopharm won’t be around anymore in five years due to a possible transaction. What I will be doing, depends on the transaction. :-)

#5 Can you name three adjectives that describe the working culture at vasopharm?
Sophisticated, loyal, constructive

#6 Can you name a detail that nobody really talks about but that is nonetheless crucial for the success of a company?
Working with a committed loyal team which understands and lives the work environment of a small biotech.

#7 Which technological solution are we still missing in our lives?
Artificial photo-synthesis

#8 What is worth spending time on other than vasopharm?
Naturally family and avoidance of social media.

#9 Why did you choose Creathor as an investor?
Well-founded understanding of the business — willingness to take a risk which is not self-evident for all VC´s; and finally, to invest in an area which is not “hyped” at present.

#10 Make it 10! There must be something that you have always wanted to ask us. What is it?
Christian Wandersee:
What is the key driver in your decision making process at Creathor?
Christian Leikert: The key driver in my decision making process is when I have gotten to a point where I have confidence in the combination of management, product and medical need.

Thank you Christian!
