The online course TU-E3170 Facilitating Change (period V) is looking for helping hands to manage the participants and their weekly exercises. It’s pair work and requires no special technical skills, just an ability to get things done. A perfect job for a 1st or 2nd year student, who could use some money for the summer :)

The Course

This is the 4th year we run the course as an open course for professionals, as well as a proper Aalto course. It has been very successful and we’ve had 100+ participants, most of them professionals from work life (via FITech). Everything is in English.

Have a look at the handbook based on the past courses, if you want to know more about the contents of the course: https://change.informaatioverkostot.fi/

The Works

As a course assistant you would manage the list of participants, take care of communicating via email, handling minor problems people have, and pairing up students & professionals for the weekly homework.

In short: running a Google Sheet of circa hundred people and making sure everyone knows what happens next (weekly emails). In addition, you would take care of the lecture recordings (Zoom) and putting them online (Google Drive for slides and YouTube for videos).

Good news: all this has been done may times, so you would have the previous years’ sheets etc to copy and put to use.

Jari Ylitalo and myself will run the lectures.

When?

The job would start of 12th of April and last till early weeks of June. The lectures are on Wednesdays from April 26th till May 31st. The job is one-day-a-week, meaning you’re paid for 7 hours per week. However, if there is more work than that, then extra hours will be compensated for. Having said that, 2x7h per week should be enough based on last year :)

Your salary would be based on your study credits from DIEM tables (which I don’t have at the moment). Typically they’ve been between 14.5–16€/h.

How?

Send your application (half a page free form text), study records and a concise CV to me risto.sarvas(at)aalto.fi or Telegram @rsarvas by the end of March 30th. Feel free to ask me more about the work.
