Yesterday I sat down with Sampo Hämäläinen and Eero Martela (info alumnus) from Columbia Road, the well-known flower company.

Next Winter, we will have a prototype course at Aalto on Growth Hacking. Co-created with Columbia Road and Information Networks.

Flowers, growth hacking, and Columbia Rd. It is a puzzle :)

Together with Eero et al. we will now plan the best way to teach this hands-on and practical way of scaling up or growing. Then we will plan the lectures, visiting speakers, and/or workshops and wrap it into a one-period course.

Personally I think this is very important for Information Networks skillset. Growth Hacking is not only a skill to be had, it is a way of thinking and approaching innovation, growth, sales, marketing etc. It also beautifully combines many traditional silos into one: design, development, business, sales, eCommerce, marketing, content production, analytics, automation…

I call these first-time and no-official-status courses prototype courses. After this kind of a prototype and the lessons learned we can re-vise it and make it better, and if need be, eventually it becomes an official course. Like DSD has become.

However, it is not the official course status that we care about. It is the fact that we will have true professionals sharing their expertise with us this coming Winter. I’m taking this course!
