Can we Talk About Threads for a Minute?

Wow, just wow. It’s driving my IG growth like no other channel

I dipped in, like we all did, the week Threads came out.

And then I didn’t.

I guess you might have felt the same. Who needs a Twitter clone? Why do I need yet another channel to create content for?

1. Threads is Seriously Good

Just under a week ago I created a Threads profile for my main IG, just as part of a Sunday evening tidy-up. You know, doing the little things that you put off when you’re busy.

And then a few days ago I jumped in with both feet.

It’s changed a lot since launch.

Somehow I’m seeing and being connected to designers, creatives and people looking for creatives. It’s amazing. Like an early Twitter, or early Instagram or early internet or something.

It’s such a clean interface.

Just the thread. Nothing else, which I guess is obvious. But they had the discipline at Meta to keep it minimal and clean.

It works on desktop too.

2. It’s Full of Real People, Real Talk

People are actually on there, saying normal things, asking for advice, chatting, speaking their mind, and others are responding. Quickly. It’s vibey.

A lot of people are looking for connection, looking for advice and speaking their mind. It seems less automated.

3. It Drives IG Growth and Discovery

Here’s a little daily follower count tracker of my tiny Instagram account @chomoi . The initial jump was when I signed up, transferring about 60 relevant accounts from Instagram to Threads. Then I didn’t do anything for a while.

The next step up is when I started posting, liking, commenting on Threads.

The final steep slope is when I realised what was happening, and started actively driving traffic from Threads to my Instagram account.

I’m now starting to think I need a Threads strategy.

What about you? Are you using it?
