A Rick and Morty Festivus List
Ten Articles and Dozens of Gift Ideas — Wubba Lubba Dub Dub!
Rick and Morty killed Santa Claus. Relax… not the real Santa Claus. I think it was the same lame one that Eagles fans threw snowballs at back in 1967. So at the risk of having Rick eviscerate the holiday in some later episode, we present a Rick and Morty Festivus article.
Our first Rick and Morty article is closing on two years old.
It featured Rick’s rants on school, his understanding of science & art, and his famous catch phrase. Wubba Lubba Dub Dub!
Amazon actually sells over 200 items featuring that phrase. From laptop stickers to socks, posters to t-shirts — that is a lot of swag.
What would Rick think of all this merchandising? Honestly, I think he would simply want to be sure he made a profit. With that in mind, most of our links will be to Amazon. Their stuff tends to be licensed…
The article we wrote in July of 2017 actually had a gift idea. It featured Mr Meeseeks and a ceramic bank that at the time was just under $20. Today you can get it on Amazon for under $14.
The Meeseeks Box is a real problem solver. Well, not this one… this is just a lame replica. Our article focused on trouble of defining a problem well. It is an important lesson in both technology and analytics.
You can read it via the link below. You can also follow this link to a Meeseeks Box coffee mug. It is only a dollar more and honestly — cool 20 oz coffee mugs are hard to come by.
A few months later, we went Pickle Rickkk! The article was viewed by thousands! It was a lesson in overcoming adversity — what else would you title getting yourself out of a pickle?
Rick’s problem solving skills are cool. This figure, which is retailing under $20 looks pretty cool, too. Read the article below to see our take.
Last December, we were inspired by Pocket Mortys. We talked about pattern recognition, weights & scores, and discovery. We even found some avid fans who had created spreadsheets from the game.
The game is a gift idea, I suppose. It is free. I never found a need for in-game purchases but… well, you’ll figure it out. If not — here — is a link to more Rick & Morty games, including Munchkins.
This past March, we asked if Rick Sanchez was the new role model for Data Scientists. For some, his in your face attitude is a little hard to stomach. Those folks probably won’t want this hoodie. But some of us believe that Data Science could stand to be a little more Rick.
Check out the article and make your own opinion!
I am sorry, but your opinion means very little to me. — Rick
In September, we wrote two articles inspired by Rick and Morty. The first talked about the weaponization of data and analytics. We compared it to a power suit.
I would love to include a link here to a real live power suit. Alas, you will have to settle for Morty over here…
Yeah, you and me both…
The second article that month featured Scary Terry. It was an article on decision strategy. Read the link below to see what we had to say. Just remember -
You can run but you can’t hide, bitch! — Terry
Last month, we gave you yet another Rick and Morty article. What can we say? They are inspiring. This one featured simulations.
Simulations and games have been featured in every season of Rick and Morty. Don’t believe us? Get the three season box set and check it out! Do people still buy those?
Finally, last month, we dove into Rick and Morty’s take on causality. It was a deep journey into the dark religion of Headism… well, not really. But it was a look at just how deep and theoretical some of these episodes really get.
With 10 Rick & Morty episodes nearly complete, it may be a while before we write more articles. Although given just how funny and thought provoking the first three seasons have been… perhaps that wait may not be so long. Season 4 is coming and that will just be the start of the 70 new episodes on order. The release date is anyone’s guess but these guys are guessing soon. Time will tell.
Until then — thanks for reading! Happy Holidays! Festivus for the rest of us, coming December 23rd. And click on a link — we appreciate the affiliate revenue… pennies from heaven. Actually, with that in mind — here are some of the more premium gifts on the market.
