Countdown to BI Madness 2019
Four Competitors — Six Rounds — Lots of Business Intelligence
Our competition will kick off on March 21st along with the first round of the big dance. We will close this year on April 9th — we like to include pictures of the winning NCAA team celebrating (or their fans). That gives us three weeks to cover six rounds — plenty of time to learn, vote, and compete.
Each week will feature two rounds, two articles, and two new polls. Each round, article, and poll will be dedicated to a major aspect of business intelligence.
- Which solution is better at creating ACCESS to intelligence — a critical element of data-driven culture? Read here.
- Which solution is most easily adoptable — on both the short and long term (those can be quite different)? Read here.
- Which solution offers the best data visualization capability? The heart and soul of BI.
- Which solution is more likely to create more insight — that is what this is all about, right?
- Which solution has the biggest drawback? — We aren’t analysts if we can’t flip perspective.
- Which solution seems to fair best overall? This final round may be a poll or just a final comment period after we publish the results of the earlier rounds.
While our four horsemen have been selected — Qlik, Power BI, Tableau, and Thought Spot, we will also tally add-in votes along the way. So, if enough Looker fans want to rally for their solution — they will get a seat in the final results (much like the college rankings — think “also receiving votes”).
A new article outlining the topic and discussing the finer points of our four market leaders will open the voting. At the end of each article, we will include a link to the voting page. That is a bit different this year. Our polls will be run on the Corsair’s TradeCraft platform — public pages, no sign in required — but a chance for folks to see our new product. We are hoping some of you sign up for our Early Access list, but we don’t do hard sells.
All that said — we are still encouraging comments. It makes no difference if that is here on Medium, on LinkedIN, on Twitter, Facebook, or Quora. We want these articles to be a platform for information and education. We don’t hold the monopoly on that. We want your thoughts, your opinions, and (as always) your feedback. Corsair’s is a value add organization — add as much as you want.
Okay, enough said. It all starts in one week. Oh, as part of the Data Visualization round — we will be asking people to share their most impressive visuals. It is a great way to get noticed, whether you are one of the competitors or one of the up-and-coming DataViz experts (or a solution we spurned looking to get pay back). More on that when we get there.
BI Madness 2019 returns on March 21st.
