Let The Hunt Begin
In our first profile, which featured Aech, we talked about identity and trust. Art3mis could be a profile in identity, too.

Only Samantha Cook and Art3mis look more alike than any other character from the movie. Reverse psychology? Perhaps. Extra sensitivity to that scar/birthmark thing… maybe? Or just someone who revels in the unexpected.
Regardless, this article is going to take a different path. Much like Samantha.
Ready Player One gives us the term Gunters, short for Egg Hunters. They are players in OASIS primarily searching for it’s creators Easter Egg. It is the plot of the film and the connective tissue for the movies main characters. Only, unlike the rest, Art3mis is not hunting for the Egg to get the prize. Art3mis wants the prize simply to keep IOI from winning it.
The movie, the book is a bit different, names Art3mis a “Sixer Fixer”. Sixers are the nickname for agents of IOI. They are competition in the OASIS but even deadlier in the movie’s real world.
Art3mis presents an interesting profile as an analyst, which by default — all non-sixer gunters are. She is contrarian in nature, very suspicious, but highly objective/open to trying new approaches. Her nature is very much an enigma. Perhaps she is actually the perfect analyst in that respect.
She embraces different tools and technologies than others. She is fearless both inside and outside the OASIS. Whether the girl gamer or the girl in the dress, she seems willing to adapt to any approach that seems necessary. She even avoids some of the bias that trips up Wade/Parzival on occasion. She is formidable.
Like her avatar name suggests, Art3mis is a huntress. She is also comfortable with numbers. Not only does Art3mis nimbly work her way through gaming challenges that involve hand-eye coordination. She also works her way through the various BI style systems through out the movie. In fact, her real world situation makes it apparent that she is also something of a hacker or at least the leader of a group of hackers.
Finally, Art3mis goes deep. Her analysis reaches beyond the OASIS. Wade may win many of the head-to-head competitions inside the virtual world, but he has no where near the skills she possesses outside. She thrives on the challenge, the hunt, and the competition.

Art3mis is a amazing gamer. She is a leader and, of course, an analyst. The goddess of the hunt is also a great profile in analytics. From her openness and adaptability, to her depth of analysis and use of numbers and data — she is truly formidable. And we didn’t even talk about her deep knowledge of retrogaming and 80’s pop culture!
