PugSync v2 is out!
About a year and a half ago, our Studio released the first version of PugSync for Medium. Our Shopify app allows its users to import their Medium publications automatically and display them as blog posts in their Shopify store.
Following its release, we received some very encouraging feedback and a few feature requests, such as the possibility to import more than the last ten articles posted on your Medium publication. We made it happen with the introduction of Medium Bulk Import.
Another feature request was the ability to import articles from other sources and platforms such as WordPress or Squarespace. It was a significant change as our app only supported Medium at the time. After some research, we decided to take on the challenge and start developing a second version of PugSync that would allow us to drop the “for Medium”…
Today, we are happy to announce that PugSync v2 is available on the Shopify App Store with the same concept in mind and many sources to import your publications from. Let’s dive into it, rediscover the existing features of our app, and explore the novelties it has to offer.
A bunch of new sources!
Let’s start with the core feature of PugSync v2: importing your articles from new sources! Without further ado, here is the list of sources we now support:
- Shopify blogs
Our system uses the RSS feeds provided by those different sources to import your publications. Some of them may require tweaking your settings, but nothing too time-consuming. We added a section in our FAQ that covers setting up your source to enable your RSS feed.
More than one source?!
Of course, we heard you! In its first version, PugSync focused on a single source: Medium. You can add up to 10 different sources in the second version that you can automatically or manually synchronize.
Here is a little bonus, if you didn’t know, Shopify allows you to create multiple blogs to hold your articles. With PugSync, you can decide in which blog your imported articles go, or simply put all your publications in one basket!
Keep your articles synchronized
It is one of the main features of PugSync, the ability to automatically import your articles as they are published on your source. There is no need for manual work; when a new article is available, we will import it for you.
You can also import your articles manually to control the content you want to publish and when it should be published.
Except for Medium using our Bulk Import feature, other sources can only import your ten latest articles.
Once your articles are synchronized, you can find them in your Shopify Blog and edit them if you wish to do so.
Read on-site or on your source
While some merchants may prefer to keep their visitors on-site, others want them to read their content on the source directly. With that in mind, you can redirect users to original publications or keep them on your site and that for all of your imported sources.
Our 7-day trial!
We believe that you should be able to test a Shopify App before buying it, and that’s what our 7-day trial is for. You can test out the full potential of PugSync and start synchronizing your articles with your Shopify blog.
If you are happy with the experience and our app, you can upgrade your account! A monthly subscription of $3.99 or a full year for $39.99 are available!
That’s about it for now, folks! We hope that you will give PugSync v2 a try and enjoy our latest features! Our team undoubtedly put a lot of effort into this new version, and we are looking forward to hearing your feedback. We will use your input to build our next features, so don’t hesitate to send us your ideas and criticisms, and we will take a good look at them.
We will also publish an updated version of our “HowTo” guide on building a Shopify App soon. Stay tuned if you’d like to know more about the technical aspect of creating an app like ours!
Thank you for taking the time to read this article, and we can’t wait to write again about new upcoming features. Stay safe, everyone!
