This past Memorial Day weekend in downtown Chicago, the launch party for Cultivating a Creative Culture was held at The Virgin Hotel’s Commons Club. It was a milestone preceding the formal launch itself, and admittedly one that’s been on my mind for awhile. The evening in and of itself was a blur; I almost wish I could have witnessed it from a third-person perspective.

Being surrounded by friends, family, and industry peers made for a warm and inspiring atmosphere. Among the attendees was the book’s illustrator, Bobby Price, who not only had some of his incredible artwork on display, but also did live drawing and coloring of the book’s hummingbird character. Nick Sarillo, whose business and story lead Chapter 2’s narrative, was also on hand.

The party was another stop on a rewading, challenging, surreal journey en route to the book’s launch and beyond. Being able to share the experience with my son was the icing on the cake.
