September 2018 Prompt: Creating as a Child

Everyone can probably remember doing something creative as a child.

Whether it was finger-painting, drawing, dancing, writing, theater, building castles out of legos — you likely have some stories about creating when you were a kid.

This September, let’s get in touch with our inner-artist-child!

When I was a little girl, I used to practice creativity all the time. I colored, painted, wrote, made up dances, made up and recorded comedy skits on audio, scrapbooked, played musical instruments, etcetera. I’m sure I can think of at least one story to write from those wildly creative days!

What about you? What did you like to do creatively, as a kid? Share a story about it this month!

You could also take it a bit deeper and keep these things in mind as you think back on your experiences:

Who or what inspired me as a kid?

When I was a kid, did I dream of doing something creative when I got older? Am I doing any of those things today? Why or why not?

Who were my safe people: the people who encouraged me as a creative human?

Happy remembering, and happy writing!
