On March 13th 2019, Creative Labs hosted its quarterly Demo Day showcasing projects completed over the 10 week quarter.

This quarter, we had a total of 7 projects ranging from virtual journals to social-media based marketing.

What did they make and what was their journey like?

Let’s dive right in.

Pondi

Created by: Don Le (project lead), Mudith Mallajosyula, Callista Wu, Angela Zhang, Suraj Vathsa, Stephanie Doan, Ryan Lam and Arihant Jain

Pondi is a virtual guided journal that sparks deep introspection and interesting conversations.

Inspired by his own love for journalling and deep conversations with his friends, Don thought it’d be cool to have a web journalling app that makes both a communal and a private space for deep reflection.

Making space for emotional honesty with your friends
yup
but they did it!

Animated Interactive Learning

Created by: Jordan Murti (project lead), Abigail Yang, Andy Cai, Annie Zhang, Chinmaya Vempat, Collin Prince, Elwyn Cruz, Kailey Nichols, Saumya Dedhia and Saurav Rohira

Animated Interactive Learning is a collection of educational online animations with multiple opportunities for user interaction.

The team worked on illustrating two courses at UCLA: Computer Science 32 and Physics 1A. These videos demonstrate that a concise video can deliver clarity better than long lectures.

Created by: Emmy Cao (project lead), Ethan Chee, Sherry Lam, Alara Saygi, Ann Suzuki, Sandra Wang and Amanda Wu

Emmy’s team worked on designing the discovery page of an early stage ear-to-ear social network communication app TTYL.

The team conducted research and drew up wireframes before assembling their final product.

TTYL (Marketing)

Created by: Sweena Mangal (project lead), Cindy Zheng, Priyana Patel, Tiffany Feng, Jane Lee, Katie Kim

Sweena’s team also worked on a project with the venture-backed social media startup TTYL but tackled its marketing and branding strategy.

Their project aimed to answer: “How can we demonstrate the value of TTYL to 18–25 year old Airpod users?”

This! was their solution

This Airpod meme page be an Instagram account that pools together Airpod memes from other platforms and even inviting users to post their own related memes.

A key part of market research for this team was learning the art of hashtagging.

Which hashtags work best?

Adding the right hashtags boosts performance!

Pianotes

Created by: Rithika Srinivasan (project lead), Sydney Walsh, Rohith Kodukula, David Chen, Varun Pidugu, Soumya Uppuganti

Pianotes is a virtual piano that when played converts notes immediately to sheet music. Super helpful for all those composers out there who’ve always wanted a way to record those beautiful, spontaneously-composed melodies!

Some of the features of this current version include a virtual piano, time signature, buttons, sheet music and beats per minute.

Glia

Created by: Catherine Wang (co-project lead), Daniela Sarmiento (co-project lead), Brianna Tanusi, Jay Mishra, Edgar Lopez, Eden Bui, Dianne Peng

College is stressful, but many scientific studies have proved that habitual gratitude can help. Glia aims to encourage this habit by functioning as a minimalistic and easy-to-use gratitude journal webapp.

Saiyle is a personal delivery assistant that exists as a mobile and web app. It aims to bring efficiency and accessibility to the process of delivering and receiving by connecting buyers to deliverers. Need a smoothie from Bcafe or tide pods from Target but don’t wanna walk all the way down? Saiyle’s gotchu.

Sonia’s team is still improving the usability of the app.
