I Almost Didn’t Write This Story

But then I read this one.

I’m calling it the 20-year break up because George and I have been on again/off again for at least 12 of them. For the first 7 1/2, everything was great. We never fought or argued. He did get annoyed with me once but once I explained the why he calmed down with a, “I didn’t think of that.”

Hint: there’s a reason for everything I do and say even if that reason isn’t visible to anyone other than me.

Other than that things were as good as they get. He worked full-time at the Pentagon while I was working retail part-time while in college again, this time at 46. So between my job, classes, and writing papers, I didn’t have a lot of time anyway. So when we got together which was about once a week we made it worth both our wiles.

It was great!

But then he got deployed four times and ended up retiring in HI. No, I didn’t want to move there not that an invitation had been extended anyway so that was the end of that. So I went on with my life. Brian had recently died so I was still dealing with that. Which was in those 6 weeks when a gun put a gun to my head trying to rob the store I was working in.

So yeah, I had my hands full.
