I’m Getting Married
And it has triggered my anxiety hugely!
And it only took twenty years. Better late than never I guess. It isn’t “official” yet because he’s gone until March or April of next year. Family business and shutting down his businesses in HI of all places.
But we’re moving ahead with the planning stages regardless. Or at least I am. A wedding in 2025 when you live on opposite coasts takes a lot of planning and preparation. His focus is on where we’re going to live when he gets back to the lower 48. All I know for sure is it will be somewhere in OR.
Who is “he”?
He is a he that I met in 2004 when I met him, we’ll call him “G”, at Dulles International Airport. I had spent the year volunteering for Books For Soldiers. We didn’t just provide books. We ponied up anything these asked us for. Sweat-wicking tee shirts to birthday cards for their bunkmates and everything in between.
G was at the end of his deployment and couldn’t receive any more mail but was asking for pen pals. I’m sure I was one of many who responded but I apparently the only one who was in the DMV (DC metro area). He was from the west coast and had never been to the opposite coast. He was leaving the Middle East and being assigned to the Pentagon of all places. He got it when it was all fresh and shiny and new thanks…
