What if there was a board game that was based on the French resistance during world war two? It could be an A-symmetrical, hidden movement game. The resistance have to plan to sabotage, gather resources and hide in set locations around the city. The fascists would have to manage their resources to try and cover as much ground as possible, building a net over the city where they can attempt to close in on where the resistance might be hiding or where there next planned attack it.

What if the resistance had access to decoys to throw the fascists off the scent? This would mean that the tracking would have to be based on what the fascists discovered in the locations they sent their people to. The resistance would then have to track their movements away from the board and leave something in the locations they have been. This means the locations would have to be linked in more linear ways to allow the fascists to be able to follow the movements, but also allows for the resistance to leave decoys that would suggest they went left, but really they went right.

What if the resistance had goals that were based on things like sabotage? They would have to destroy 3 key locations before they were caught and killed imprisoned. This means the fascists would have to manage protecting these key locations as well as tracking down the resistance.

What if the fascists’ goal was to eliminate the resistance in order to win? This would put a timer on the resistance player but also force the fascist player to take action and make moves. There would also need to be a mechanic to discourage the fascist from just sitting on the key locations. There could be non-key locations that could also be sabotaged and these would do something like reduce the number of people the fascist had. In turn the fascist could be rewarded for making proactive plays and have ways to get more people. A propaganda recruitment drive, which could also be sabotaged. The resistance would also need similar mechanics in order to build up their agents.

What if the fascists could raise their popularity? This could lead to the resistance having less agents to work with. The resistance could also gather or steal supplies in order to make more daring plays or get out of a mess. They could tunnel, allowing them to bypass the restrictive linear movement of the map. This would only get them so far, enough to potentially avoid the search net, but still show possibilities of where they could have gone to the fascists.

What if the board was like battleship, with a divider in the middle to mask what each player can see? No, I don’t like this idea. The resistance should be at a disadvantage, but at least they would be able to see the movements of the fascists. This would mean the resistance player would need a smaller board on a pad they could write on to show their movement. Probably dry eraser. They can confirm if they are at the location or not when the fascist move into the location and if any actions were performed on the location it would leave some sort of trace to show they had been there.

What if they were all anthropomorphised animals?
