Full details as well as a link to apply are up on the Scottish Book Trust website. Applications are open now, until Tuesday 22 February 2022.

Debut Lab is a (free) programme of workshops, resources and networking building aimed at writers based in Scotland who brought out their debut work during the pandemic (between Dec 2019 & forthcoming in 2022).

There’s budget to cover costs associated with access requirements, including (but not limited to) childcare, carer costs, translation/interpretation. The programme is fully delivered online, so no requirement to travel.

The programme is open to a wide range of types and genres of writing, including poets and short fiction writers who brought out their first full length collection as well as novelists, memoirists, other CNF, graphic novelists, those writing for children (inc. picture books). Writers are still eligible if they have brought out a second (or third!) book since then as well.

The programme is being delivered by Scottish Book Trust, and is funded and co-designed by the Literature Team here at Creative Scotland as a direct response to the decreased visibility of the work being published, as well as the lost opportunities for the writers to build their profile and learn from peer support due to the pandemic.
