Extra Teeth — Issues 3 & 4
We started Extra Teeth in July 2019, with £10,000 raised from a Kickstarter campaign. This was intended to fund Issues One and Two of the magazine, which we succeeded in. Having established the magazine as an exciting, unique publication for the Scottish literature landscape, we then looked to secure funding to continue the work we’d begun, and also expand the scope and readership of the magazine. This is where Creative Scotland came in!
With the funding we’ve been awarded, we’ll be able to produce Issues Three and Four of the magazine, substantially increase the print run, invest in marketing and promotion, and run a series of supportings (online) events — all of which will ensure writers and illustrators are promoted both within and beyond Scotland’s borders and also that they are paid fairly for their work.
Ultimately, the support we’ve received from Creative Scotland will allow us to invest in a business model that moves towards self-sustainability and increased rates for our contributors, and will help us to establish Extra Teeth as an outlet for the boldest, most exciting Scottish writing and illustration today.
