World Poetry Day is such a wonderful day to celebrate new poetry releases, and here are some that have been joyously filling our eyes and ears:

Hannah Lavery’s debut collection, Blood Salt Spring was recently published by Polygon, with Jenni Fagan’s The Bone Library due in the summer. Claire Askew’s latest collection, How to Burn A Woman, from Bloodaxe, is particularly timely in light of the recent Scottish Parliament acknowledgment of, and apology for, the atrocities committed during the Scottish Witch Trials. Lyric, experimental and rooted in quiet, Vahni Capildeo’s recent Like a Tree, Walking, is an excellent title to read in the pale spring sunshine, whilst Alison Brackenbury’s Thorpeness is a sharply-drawn depiction of birds, plants and weathers. StAnza website has a number of their digital events accessible to watch or re-watch, featuring UK and world-wide poetry, all from the comfort of your living room!

Limbic by Peter Scalpello was recently published by Cipher Press, with a Glasgow launch taking place at Mount Florida Books on Thursday 24th of March 2022. At Least This I Know by Andrés N. Ordorica was published by 404 Ink with a launch event at Lighthouse Books featuring fellow poets Etzali Hernández and Carl Alexandersson. Other recent releases include Love the Sinner by Imogen Stirling published by Verve Poetry Press and accompanying national book tour, Always Erase by Lauren Pope published by Blue Diode, zine pamphlet Transmask by Bibi June, Leave Bambi Alone by Maria Sledmere, and All the Way Home anthology features a myriad of Scottish authors who have partnered with Scottish youth homelessness charity Rock Trust, with launch events at Outwith Books and forthcoming at Golden Hare on March 30th 2022.

We hope you enjoy reading, listening to, or performing some poetry this World Poetry Day!
