An inclusive index of creatives from all over the world, by creatives.

As a former student of a Parisian art school, it’s not uncommon to get random creative inquiries, ranging from requests for a logo all the way to a fully fleshed out mobile application. Since I haven’t done design for almost a decade and transitioned career, I tend to recommend friends who have more relevant experience in the field.

While recommending friends works for a while, there’s always a limit on how many people you know and the creative fields you are personally aware of. Can I recommend someone who does wedding photography? Probably not. Do I know people who do floral design in Japan? It’s unlikely. At the end of the day, the number of creatives I personally know is very limited, even though there are million of talented ones from all over the world. But stepping back for a second, the requests from clients were mostly around finding creatives that are in a specific field and sometimes within a specific region.

That’s in this mindset I created an inclusive index of creatives named CreativeList making it easier for clients, customers, and inspiration seekers to find them. As of today, the index counts more than 150,000 creatives from all over the world.

Inclusive?

Yes. The index is for all types of creatives, not just photographers or designers. So if you are a painter, a musician, a singer, a performer, basically anyone who has a portfolio as a resume, you have your place in this index.

Do you take a 10-20% commission, like UpWork?

Absolutely not. We find those commission fees to be extremely high, and they have not been in favor of the creatives. If you make $1,000/month by getting customers via our index, this well-earned income is yours and yours only.

How can I join?

To be part of this journey, you just have to fill out a very simple form. The requirements to be accepted are minimalist: you need a website that highlights well the work you do and an easy way for customers to contact you.

But I don’t have a website …

Not a problem. Even if we’re focusing at the moment on creatives who already have a website, it doesn’t mean we don’t have in mind creatives who don’t. Sign up to our newsletter to stay up to date on future features, and if you need a website right away, we highly recommend Format (www.format.com) to get started.

How can I help?

Thanks! Since I’m alone running this platform, help is always greatly appreciated. There are thousand of things you can do but the main ones are:

  • Recommend this publication. Love is always appreciated.
  • If you have creative friends who have a website and aren’t yet listed, feel free to mention CreativeList to them.
  • If you receive creative job opportunities you can’t fulfill, feel free to send them to us so customers can find other creatives that might match their request, or simply advertise their job opportunity.
  • Sign up to our mailing list. We won’t be sending more than one email a month to start.
  • If you have time: we’d love to hear what you think about the product. Feedback are a great way to improve it, so send us an email with what you think works well, doesn’t work, or could be improved.
  • We’re looking for awesome creatives to interview to start our blog series. If you’re interested, contact us.

Other Questions?

We’d be happy to answer any questions you might have, just send us an email with your concerns and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible: support@creativelist.io.
