Why A DAO?

We are building an open, decentralized protocol and product;

The development behind this needs to follow the same ethos, therefore we’re progressively converting our project to a DAO.

Like Erik Voorhees said when announcing the Shapeshift DAO, if not, we’re all just LARPing, controlling decentralized technology with centralized teams.

The Squads

The DAO will consists of squads, to begin with there will be the Development Squad and the Socials Squad, these will be progressively split to have squads that focus on more specific tasks like Front-End and Smart Contract development for example.

The Token

All governance, product development and funding is driven by the $CREATE token.

The token will help with coordinating funds, set up proposals and reward contributors and creators.

The goal is to launch the most positively-sum game for the creators & contributors where everyone gets to earn their stake.

Not only that, with the token Creaton can become a self sufficient tokenomy which will pay for the storage and gas fees — it’s there to make the best user experience for creators and fans possible.

To participate in governance, $CREATE has to be staked to generate governance tokens. With Polygon’s ultra-low gas fees we can avoid using off-chain governance solutions like Snapshot, but instead make people spend governance tokens on-chain.

This results in a similar effect to Conviction Voting, where no whale can buy up all the tokens and vote on all the proposals they want, but need to carefully choose what to spend the governance tokens on as they are slowly generated by staking $CREATE (and with the Squads having their own token, people will need to choose which Squads they want to have the most say in)

Creaton DAO Ethos: Community puts Creators First

The goal of the Community (Squad) is to put creators first by showing them the benefits of Creaton, helping them with onboarding and processing feedback up to the Development Squad.

Creaton doesn’t have to solely deal with a two-sided marketplace as Creators can bring on their own existing audience, so getting creators on the platform is the focus (although decentralized curation will also be introduced for creators to gain a new audience).

Wen DAO?

As soon as the token is live on Polygon, people can generate the $CREATE governance token and vote in our DAO for the first DAO phase.
