Medium’s engineers have been hard at work making it easier than ever for you to discover new ideas and perspectives and connect with fellow writers. We’ve made improvements that make it easier for readers to discover and follow you, and for your stories to reach wider audiences.

It’s true for any kind of writer: To learn to write, you have to read. A lot. And when it comes to succeeding on a platform like Medium, reading widely is a great way to get to know what resonates with readers, what writers you might be in conversation with, and what you appreciate as a reader — which can help you to develop what you do as a writer. As a bonus, reading widely can also help you to come up with new ideas of what to write about.

Keep in mind that you have a say in what stories and writers Medium recommends to you. You can fine-tune your feed by clicking on your profile picture and then selecting “Control your recommendations.” Adjust the writers and publications you’re following. Remove stories from your reading history that don’t reflect the stories you typically want to read. These are small changes that can have a big impact on the stories and creators we recommend to you.
