Thank You for Joining Our First-Ever Writing Hour
A recap, and an invitation to share your stories
Today, over 100 writers joined us on Zoom for some unstructured creative time — we shared writing tips, resources, and mostly just wrote. It was fun! It was also new for us. The session was part of our Creator Workshop series, and it was our first time hosting an open writing hour for Medium creators. If you were able to join, thank you! Bonus points if you actually finished that draft (or made some meaningful progress toward finishing it).
We provided a few optional writing prompts at the top of the hour — if you couldn’t make it (or even if you could) here they are:
Prompt #1
What’s a problem you’ve been trying to solve at work? Why does it matter to you? You can define “work” however you like — your profession, hobby, passion project, or anything you care deeply about.
Prompt #2
Write a letter to someone from your past: a childhood friend, an ex, a distant family member, or really anyone. Tell them everything you couldn’t say in person.
Prompt #3
What’s the last best thing you read? Write about why you loved it, or why it stuck with you.
Some of us wrote in response to one of those prompts, others blissfully ignored them in favor of their own personal projects. (Both of which were more than fine.) If you joined the writing hour and want to share what you wrote, we encourage you to drop a link in the responses! And if you weren’t able to join, feel free to do the same. We’ll be perusing those responses, and we hope you will, too.
As always, follow Creators Hub for upcoming events and announcements. Thank you for being on Medium, and for spending some much-needed time writing with us today!
