It’s hard for sellers to profitably price their handmade wares with a complicated fee structure, and Etsy has 12 different kinds of fees and commissions they can charge on a sale.
As we break down in this post, that means that the fees and commissions on an Etsy sale can range anywhere from 10% to 40%: depending on the value of the sale, how long an item has been on the marketplace, the location of the seller and the buyer, and the role of the ever-important Offsite Ads program.
In this post, we’ll list out what the various fees are, then apply them to several example sales to show how much they can range.
List of Etsy Fees
First, the breakdown: Etsy’s Seller Handbook lists 12 different kinds of fees (and that doesn’t include policies with financial costs to sellers, like the $35 free shipping “guarantee”).
