How to Recognize a Male Green Terror Cichlid

Green Terror is one of the colorful fishes in the cichlid family. Geographically this fish originates from South America, especially in Peru and Ecuador. As the name suggests, it is a very aggressive freshwater fish. Never school them with your Goldfish or Koi Carps. From my personal experience, I have seen them attacking and even munching them as a snack. Because of their behavior, I have watched benevolent fish keepers segregating them from other communities.

Unlike most other cichlids, the male Green Terror grows faster and bigger than the females. An average male can reach up to 30 cm or 12 inches. Females reach up to 12–15 cm or 4–5 inches.

Tankmates

The best recommend tank mates for these terrors are Oscars, Red Parrots, Giant Gouramis, Plecos, and other cichlids. Sometimes two male Green Terrors can fight against one another. Try to…
