Credify is a University of Tokyo corporate partner
The University of Tokyo (generally known as “Todai”) is Japan’s most prestigious university and one of the best universities worldwide, currently ranked at number 24 in the QS World University Rankings.
Todai received in 2018 a Yen 90m (about $800,000) donation from a pool of corporate sponsors including Japanese banking giant Sumitomo Mitsui (SMBC) and the Ethereum Foundation, to start offering blockchain-related courses held at the Graduate School of Engineering.
The Endowed Chair for Blockchain Innovation offers courses developed for students who aim to become blockchain-related entrepreneurs. It is focused on the development of decentralized solutions, their social implementation and human resources.
Shuichi Nagao, Credify’s co-founder and Director of Engineering, is a Tokyo University graduate, having obtained a bachelor’s degree in computer science with a focus on machine learning. Furthermore, blockchain plays an important part in Credify’s tech stack and in the philosophy driving Credify’s software development. As such Credify already had a special connection with Todai, and this made even stronger by the recent selection of Credify as official corporate partner of Tokyo University’s blockchain program, together with other important companies and non-profit entities.
Credify and its management team will be contributing to lectures, disseminating its know-how and experience in using blockchain in business, as well as helping facilitate potential collaboration with universities in Vietnam, a key-market for Credify and one where most of the team is based.
