Behind the scenes of Credix’ off-site — Rio de Janeiro
Our journey officially started on November 9th, 2021. Flash forward 6 months and here we are a highly skilled and ambitious team of 10* collaborating and building as the sun sets in Rio de Janeiro, marking the first bi-annual Credix team offsite, June 15th, 2022.
Being a remote-first company has many advantages, yet we have realized the importance of getting everybody together in person from time to time. Fostering a culture, realigning the vision, and mission and building interpersonal connections are just a couple of examples of why in-person events are crucial.
As Credix’ borrower base is located in Brazil, it was a no-brainer to fly out the entire team to Rio de Janeiro for our first offsite. Not only was this offsite special as it was the very first Credix team offsite, but for some team members, it was also the first time they got to meet the rest of the team in person and moreover, the first time outside their homeland.
On the agenda, are 6 days packed with internal workshops, client and partner events, and team-building activities, laying the foundation for Credix’ next phase of growth.
The first two days we focused on internal workshops making the most of having everyone in the same room.
On the first day, the tone was immediately set by Thomas (CEO) who clearly explained our vision and mission. Just a small reminder for those who have missed them:

Realigning and reinforcing this vision and mission, set a clear foundation for all the workshops and brainstorms to follow.
Starting the second day with some physical activity, we had Tiago, from Escola Riserva Zen Yoga Life, teaching us some yoga and meditation basics on the beach as waves were breaking gently on the shore and the sun rose behind Sugarloaf Mountain. A truly incredible experience, bringing the team’s connection to another level.
After another intense day full of knowledge transfers & workshops we finished the day with a boat trip and bbq.
During the weekend we took the time to wander around Rio, hiking the Tijuca Peak, visiting Christ the Redeemer, and going for a late lunch in Santa Teresa, fully absorbing the city and the wonders it has to offer.
Probably the highlight of the week took place on Monday evening, as we opened up our house for a client, investor, and partner network/bbq event. A true display of the Credix ecosystem.
Bringing in different partners, investors, and FinTechs for a great panel discussion, some food, and nice Caipirinhas, was an amazing experience. Not only did they get to meet the entire Credix team but also got an opportunity to get to know the other stakeholders in the Credix ecosystem.
Looking back at this first offsite some key takeaways are:
- Though remote work has many advantages, in-person events are crucial for culture building and company alignment.
- Despite turbulence in the market, Credix is well-positioned to become a true market leader. A lean and mean team and culture-first approach is what drives our success.
- The Credix ecosystem is growing and truly amazing.
