A year ago, August became a part of the Credix team with the responsibility of spearheading a strategic DeFi project. Fast-forward twelve months, and his accomplishments have extended well beyond, earning him the reputation of being the company’s foremost representative in the realm of DeFi. By leveraging his extensive background in traditional finance investments and compliance, along with his expertise in digital assets as part of the MakerDAO ecosystem, he fostered significant partnerships and relationships in the space. But what were his impressions looking back at his 1-year anniversary?

August — Partnerships & DeFi Strategy — USA

What was your most outstanding achievement in the past year?

We have been fortunate to establish several very beneficial capital-generating partnerships that help further the Credix mission by allowing us to deploy more capital to LatAm while providing healthy returns for our partners. I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in this start-to-finish and continue to work closely with these key partners.

What is your favorite part of working for the company?

Creative liberty. As an earlier-stage company, we’re constantly trying new approaches and testing the theories of old ones to see how they can be improved. This creates an open forum where anyone should feel comfortable putting forward a new idea or strategy that they can support. I’ve found this keeps me engaged, my mind open, and a sense of “never settled” to emerge.

What advice would you give yourself a year from now?

When August, one year from now, looks back at August today, I expect he’ll say: “Hey Aug, way to crush it this past year, but here are two things you really should have prioritized over the past 12 months.

Challenge yourself with learning new topics. You’re surrounded by brilliant minds and subject-matter experts in fields with which you aren’t as familiar. Coding and engineering for instance! Reach out to your colleagues to learn some new skills and challenge yourself. It’ll result in a more dynamic August.

Be in person. Yes, I know you love your mountains, and being a remote contributor allows you the best of both worlds, but go to Antwerp or São Paulo for some real FaceTime with the teams. Not only is it beneficial from a workflow perspective, but you also genuinely enjoy these people; it’ll be fun! The times I got to Brazil and Belgium have been very motivating and the vibrant offices are just inspiring. So get out, go travel, and spend time with the Credix Family.

What’s your favorite merchandise item?

From Credix? The Credix crewneck sweatshirt is perfect. It is a great weight, warm enough for my chilly mountain mornings, and obviously looks top-notch!
