Inside Credix — Sérgio’s 1 year Milestone
It’s been a year since Sérgio joined our Brazil office as a Legal Intern. Now, twelve months later, he has advanced to the position of Junior Lawyer. Working closely with Marco, Sérgio has become an invaluable member of both our legal team and the entire company. We’re thrilled to have you with us, Sérgio. Here’s to another great year ahead!
Can you describe your overall experience working here over the past year?
Credix is a fast-paced, high-performance environment where the day-to-day is out of the ordinary. Starting as an intern and now a Legal Analyst, I had the opportunity to get in touch with a huge variety of legal documents and nuances of the Brazilian credit market. In summary, the past year in Credix seems like a lifetime that turned me into a much more capable professional and a better person.
What accomplishments are you hoping to achieve in the coming year?
I just graduated from law school. Working a full-time job while finishing university was challenging and demanded a lot of my time. Therefore, in the coming year, I intend to get back on track with some personal goals involving skills that aren’t directly related to work and law. This includes taking up strength training again, getting my running back to 2020 levels, and going back to studying programming.
Reflecting on the last Credix offsite, what aspect stood out to you as the most enjoyable/memorable?
The paintball game, no doubt. I hope the paint tasted good to those who dared to cross my way on the battlefield. No, just kidding. This is not an easy question. The latest offsite was the first time I had the opportunity to meet many team members, and getting to know each of them personally, hearing so many stories, and understanding their personalities was a game changer in my daily life at Credix. Coming face to face with colleagues that I had only met via Google Meet and Slack messages was a great and very pleasant surprise.
If you could offer a piece of advice to your future self one year from now, what would it be?
I would tell myself to remember to be thankful. I am where I am today because I wished for it in the past, and I worked hard for it. It’s very easy to take things for granted if you get used to them, but avoiding it at all costs is crucial.
Considering your role, what aspect of your responsibilities brings you the most satisfaction?
Managing risk in our commercial relationships. Drafting and reviewing legal agreements knowing that, if things go south, Credix will have the legal leverage to be in an advantageous position. In the Brazilian credit market, one must tread carefully. And providing the legal support to prevent different kinds of losses to the company is my favorite part.
What’s your favorite merchandise item?
The Credix hat is unbeatable.
