Meet Christian Corcino, Credix’s Head of Capital Markets
While some have already had the pleasure of meeting Chris in person, on a call, or through one of our webinars, we’re very pleased to formally welcome him to the team. Chris brings a wealth of EM credit expertise to the company, and ever since he joined, he has been leading the Capital Markets team, working closely with the capital formation and origination folks. Furthermore, his passion for technology and his entrepreneurial mindset enabled him to quickly excel at his job. Read on to learn more about Chris!
What’s your background and experience?
I am a credit enthusiast who has been fortunate enough to work alongside the best in my industry. I am also a passionate entrepreneur, investor, and teacher. My professional background until recently was in traditional finance, specifically Capital Markets with a focus on Emerging Markets and Structured Credits. Early on, I worked at Moody’s for some years, and subsequently spent time at Deutsche Bank and another Wall Street bank, helping build teams and growing revenues in the EM structured credit space. Subsequently, I spent some time at GE Capital, where I honed my management skills and learned about the fascinating world of structured trade finance, focusing again on EM. In 2017, I co-founded a traditional finance company that offers securitization solutions to alternative asset fund managers.
Why did you choose Credix?
It is primarily because of the people and the culture that, (I am now able to say), we are weaving at Credix. In Credix, I see an organization committed to innovation, growth, impact, and accountability — principles that align with my professional values. The opportunity to lead a talented team and collaborate with exceptional professionals is just the icing on the cake. I believe that together we are poised to make a lasting difference in the credit markets.
What is your role and day-to-day at Credix?
As the leader of Credix’s Capital Markets team, my executive role is to design and execute our originations and capital formation efforts. My day-to-day, however, is somewhat dynamic as it may involve meetings with FinTech originators from Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and increasingly other jurisdictions in LatAm, as well as having working sessions with global investors (predominantly from the US and Europe) with whom we are building dedicated funding lines. Our Capital Markets team is incredibly talented yet young, so I also make it a daily habit to create scenarios where we can collectively contribute to each other’s development and facilitate the transfer of knowledge within and across teams.
What are you most excited about?
For the last few years, I have been excited about the acceptance of blockchain technology outside of crypto and have been furiously consuming articles and reports about the emergence of generative AI. Having spent the bulk of my career in traditional finance, I have a very strong conviction that we are nearing a generational tipping point where the adoption of smart technology will massively disrupt the finance and banking industries; replacing existing legacy systems and operations at the world’s largest financial institutions, trickling down to scalability, lowering costs, and (inevitably) enhancing returns. Credix is part of this revolution.
