BMW working on 6-cylinder, 160 PS superbike

BMW is working on developing a 6-cylinder model, just in-case you were starting to find the 4-cylinder models too boring.

The bike is slated to be a naked street-fighter with a 6-cylinder engine. The engine is going to be borrowed from the K1600GT which makes use of a 1,649cc, 24-valve, transversely mounted, inline, 6-cylinder motor producing 160 PS of power and 175 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike will make use of a shaft based drivetrain instead of a chain. The chassis will be borrowed from the S1000R and modified to fit in the motor.

Expect the bike to come with the best-in-class safety and riding features.

Pricing however will be higher than the likes of BMW S1000R. Naked super bikes have been a favourite amongst those who know that a track focussed super bike does not suit the city needs and it is much easier to live with a street fighter. However, the mammoth 6-cylinder super bike will surely scare those looking to wring the throttle from a traffic red light.

More details should be available in the near future. Exact specifications, pricing, launch date, etc. is still unknown. Let’s hope that this happens, and that BMW Motorrad does bring this model to India.
