Every passionate biker has his/her dream road trip to take someday. Some dream to ride the silk route, and some ride the coast all along. Bikers around the world share the same passion for touring, to be on the road and explore. Sometimes it comes with a price, things go south and you’re stuck in a mess. Here is a list of must-haves which you will need through your road trip.

1. Navigation — Let the map guide you

Navigation Device

“Not everyone who wanders is lost” will make you sound cool but will take you to the wrong place at the wrong time. Always have a thorough knowledge of the route of where you are heading or carry a scale map alongwith a compass. (that’s when you are out for a hardcore adventure.) And if you have a GPS system, you’re ready to go anywhere during your road trip!

2. Servicing — Perfect bike for a perfect journey

Servicing your bike

On the road trip, your main weapon is your motorcycle. Make sure you have it well maintained and in the perfect condition to take it on long hauls. Here is a 5 pointer checklist to take care of during your bike servicing. A proper servicing of the bike before you are about to leave will make you road trip trouble free.

3. Safety — Before everything else

Safety Gears

Safety on the road is essential, so do wear your safety gears such as helmets, riding jacket and gloves. If you’re not equipped with these, do check out the best riding gears you can find in the budget of as low as Rs. 10000. The safety otherwise is to carry a multipurpose (Swiss) knife, a flashlight, a Foot Pump & Puncture Repair Kit or any tool to defend yourself in case you find yourself into an unwanted situation on your road trip.

4. Accommodation — For those short breaks on long rides

Accomodation

This is one major factors to consider when it comes to overnight tours. For the rider with his long travel fatigue it is necessary for him/her to rest thoroughly. Hence carry a tent with a sleeping bag and if you are lucky enough to avail a hotel room, it couldn’t get any better. Plan out the resting checkpoints before you leave for your road trip, so you have the rough sketch of your schedule.

5. Medication — Be your own doctor

First Aid Kit

Every bike is equipped with a first aid kit, but sometimes it isn’t sufficient to treat some injuries. If you happen to crash your vehicle, do make sure you are carrying some more first aid essentials to help you make it to some professional medication, (For e.g. Pain killers, crape band, bandages, etc.)

If you have these must-haves in place, and you’re set to go on your road trip!
