Sporty Yamaha R25R / R3R could be heading our way
Rumours suggest that Yamaha has been working on creating a new R25R / R3R . The Japanese bike manufacturers, Kawasaki and Honda, have been working on creating a new sporty bike for the quarter-liter segment.
The bike is expected to be powered by the same 249cc / 321cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine, but will tuned differently for a more powerful output. The ‘R’ in R3R indicates that this would be a track-focused bike, hence one can expect a stiffer suspension setup, sporty riding position, different gear ratios and most probably an upside-down fork.
These is no evidence indicating that this bike is under development. But, considering that Kawasaki and Honda are up to something, Yamaha will not be left behind. Japanese magazines have been hinting towards this development which adds some more fuel to the fire.
If this is indeed true, enthusiasts who were disappointed with the R25 / R3 will surely be excited. The R25 / R3 had a very tourer friendly riding position which lacked to offer a sporty, big bike feel.
Expect this model to be revealed at one of the upcoming international motor shows.
