When it comes to road safety, nothing is more important than driving responsibly, following the Highway Code, and never drinking alcohol before getting behind the wheel. You must be a badass, but not as badass as these roads that’ll leave you in splits. These are some of the world’s extremely dangerous roads, regardless of how well you drive. So you think you have what it takes to hit these roads?

Fairy Meadows — Pakistan

The way to ‘Fairy Meadows’ has nothing to do with Pixie Dust or Fairies. The Fairy Meadows is actually an extremely tapered and perilous 10 km stretch of road that leads to ‘Nanga Parbat’ which is also known as ‘The Killer Mountain’ in Pakistan. Be careful even with a 4x4 SUV over on this one!

Guoliang Tunnel — China

As hard it may be to see in this particular photo, the ‘Guoliang Tunnel Road’ was excavated out of the side of a mountain by several villagers from the town of Guoliang in China. The village was evacuated from the rest of civilization by the surrounding cliffs, before they initiated the construction of this mountain pass. However, it doesn’t see much traffic due to its dangerous construction.

North Yungas Road — Bolivia

Popularly known as the “Road of Death” in Bolivia, it’s got a pretty good reputation for being one of the most dangerous roads in the world. Buses and Trucks tumbling down to the valley below is quite a regular occurrence, especially when they try overtaking each other. This kinda stuff makes you wish you had walked instead!

Skippers Canyon — New Zealand

If you were ever wondering of driving on this thin and twisty road, be aware that you’re going to need a special permit for it. Even if you do acquire a license, brace yourselves for a slippery dare and good luck if you run into someone coming from the other way.

Shimla to Manali — India

This is a 265km long route that connects Shimla and Manali in Himachal Pradesh, India. Surrounded by mountains on one side and Bias River on the other, this route gets a special slot on our list. It’s filled with lots of hazardous turns and fine passages making it one of the hardest routes across India.

Valli Del Pasubio — Italy

The ‘Valli Del Pasubio’ is also known as the ‘Road of 52 Tunnels’ which explains its significance. Situated in northern Italy, this road is famous for its incredible views. Driving can be a big problem for you and as a matter of fact, it’s not even allowed after a certain point. However, this doesn’t stop Bikers to go over the edge for some adrenaline rush.

Zoji La Pass — India

Located on the Indian National Highway 1D between Srinagar and Leh, Zoji La is a high mountain pass in India. The pass connects Ladakh and Kashmir. This pass is usually closed in the winter, but it’s a lifeline that keeps the people of Ladakh in touch with the rest of the world.

You may be a badass all you want, but these roads will send a chill even down your badass spine!
