Your Guide to Getting Started

Hello Math Heads! We’re thrilled to announce the launch of Crestal Carbon, our public testnet designed to empower Web3 developers with the tools to explore, design, and deploy optimal Web3 infrastructure services. Whether you’re a seasoned builder or just getting started, this guide will help you navigate the Crestal platform and make the most of its features.

Getting Started with Crestal Carbon

To kick off your journey, head over to https://app.testnet.crestal.xyz/ on your laptop browser. Once there, connect your EVM-compatible wallet (like MetaMask) to the platform. You’ll also need some Berachain testnet gas tokens, which can be easily obtained from the official faucet at https://bartio.faucet.berachain.com/

Now that you’re set up, let’s dive into what Crestal Carbon has to offer.

Exploring Crestal Analytics

One of the key features of Crestal Carbon is Crestal Analytics. This tool allows you to compare performance metrics from a range of infrastructure providers, such as Avail, Celestia, EigenDA, and more. Whether you’re interested in cost per block, time to finality, or other critical metrics, Crestal Analytics provides a comprehensive view of the data availability landscape. Additional infrastructure categories will be released soon.

Simply browse through the metrics dashboard to gain insights that will help you make informed decisions about the infrastructure for your Web3 projects.

Designing Your Infrastructure with Crestal AI Design Assistant

NOTE: The design assistant will only proceed if you’re building an L2, an Appchain or if you need Data Availability in your project.

Building a decentralized application can be complex, but Crestal’s AI-powered Design Assistant is here to help. Once you’ve connected your wallet, you can enter design mode and interact with the AI to break down your project’s requirements.

For example, if you’re building a DEX AppChain, the Design Assistant will guide you through specifying the necessary components, such as execution stacks, data availability (DA) services, indexers, oracles, and more. The AI then summarizes these requirements into a detailed requirement table, which can be submitted to the Crestal marketplace for further deployment proposals.

Deploying Infrastructure through the Crestal Intent-Based Marketplace

NOTE: The solvers will only include Avail Data Availability in their proposals at the moment. More options coming soon.

With your infrastructure requirements in hand, the next step is to submit them to the Crestal Intent-Based Marketplace. Here, a network of expert solvers will analyze your requirements and propose infrastructure deployments that best match your needs.

You’ll receive multiple proposals, each with detailed information about the technologies used, the cost, and the solver’s reputation. This transparent process allows you to choose the solution that best aligns with your project goals. Once selected, an automated worker agent will deploy the infrastructure as per the solver’s blueprint, ensuring that it meets the agreed-upon performance metrics.

Monitoring Deployment and Receiving Node Parameters

During deployment, the worker will share progress updates, allowing you to track the status in real-time. After a short setup period, typically a couple of minutes, you’ll receive all the necessary parameters to start using your newly deployed infrastructure node. These parameters enable you to integrate the node into your project immediately, ensuring seamless and efficient operation.

Monitoring and Incentivizing Performance

After deployment, Crestal’s Proof of Performance (PoP™) mechanism takes over. This system continuously monitors the performance of your deployed infrastructure to ensure it meets the promised standards. If a solver fails to deliver on their commitments, they may forfeit part of their payment, incentivizing them to maintain high-quality service.

You can track these metrics in real-time through the Crestal Deploy Dashboard, giving you peace of mind that your infrastructure is performing as expected.

Quests and Rewards: Earn Rocks for Your Contributions

To make your testnet experience even more rewarding, Crestal Carbon offers a series of quests that you can complete to earn Rocks — our testnet points. Whether you’re exploring metrics, interacting with the AI, or deploying services, there are plenty of opportunities to earn Rocks and climb the leaderboard.

Keep an eye on the Quests page, where new challenges are regularly added, and don’t forget to check your progress as you go.

Providing Feedback: Help Us Improve Crestal

Your feedback is invaluable in helping us refine the Crestal platform. Whether you encounter bugs, have suggestions for improvement, or simply want to share your thoughts, we encourage you to reach out. You can provide feedback directly through the platform, or connect with us on Discord or X.

About Crestal:

Crestal operates a decentralized platform that aligns the specific needs of Web3 projects with optimized infrastructure, designed, deployed and maintained by independent Expert Teams.

Once a modular service is deployed, the Crestal blockchain rigorously monitors the services and benchmarks them through a Proof of Performance (PoP) consensus algorithm.

This PoP underpins a transparent incentive mechanism, motivating the independent Expert Teams to continuously refine and optimize their services. The result is high-quality applications ran efficiently across any blockchain of choice.
