While many of our colleagues were attending Red Hat summit, we still managed to release Podman 0.5.2 this week. The release ended up having several large changes in it. One such item was the inclusion of USERNS in Podman. This has been a long time coming and the implementation in Podman was done by fellow Red Hat’ers Daniel Walsh and Giuseppe Scrivano. There will be a in depth explanation of USERNS in an upcoming blog.

Another large piece of work was that we now generate the API documentation for our varlink API dynamically. Well, that and we actually have documentation for it. As the API firms, the documentation will automatically keep up and reflect any changes.

Other significant changes in the release include:

  • rework of our hooks code
  • rework of the cgroups code which resolves several long-term bugs against libpod
  • implemented varlink info
  • changed the behavior of Podman push and tls-verify usage to match Podman pull behavior.
