There is an immense amount of work going on with container standards, build tools, container runtimes/engines, and orchestration. This can make it difficult and confusing to keep track of everything, especially if there are holes in your knowledge.

The presentation below explains the relevant daemons, data structures, kernel api calls and the standards that govern their interactions — at a practical level which is applicable to a programmer, architect or systems administrator.

We also do a quick demo, enabled by container standards, showing the e replacement of the Docker engine with CRI-O. We also explain why you might want to do this in a production operating environment.

You should walk away from this presentation with the ability to leverage container standards, improving your own architectures when building and running container environments at scale.
